About Mel Brundrit the Artist

I was born in Dartford, Kent and emigrated as a £10 "Pom" in the late 1960's to Australia. After returning to the U.K. a few years later I spent secondary schooling in Sussex, South Wales and Southampton. I went to Art college in Southampton where I studied a Foundation course in Fine Art, a Diploma in Environmental Design and a Vocational ceramics course. I achieved a BA (hons) in Fine Art at Portsmouth Polytechnic and a P.G.C.E in Art and Design at Middlesex Polytechnic. I then spent 28 years in education, teaching Art at secondary school, 6th form College and a Pupil Referral Unit.

I enjoy working in a variety of materials and with a range of processes and techniques. I'm interested in working with various subject matter and like the idea of capturing images from everyday objects, people, scenes, events and developing them into compositions using shape, colour, texture, tone, form and line.
